The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a notification to members parliament and MPAs who have declared their assets and have suspended 45 MPs temporarily for not declaring their assets within the stipulated time.
According to Election Commission Secretary Kanwar Dilshad, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Chairman Senate, NA Speaker, federal ministers and four chief ministers had declared their assets within the designated date.
While 45 MPs, who had failed to declare their assets, have been suspended and barred from working. The suspended MPs mostly include those who are abroad for either Umra or other engagements. Most of these MPs are provincial MPAs and have been suspended under Public Representative Section 40-2A. When they would submit their assets their membership would be restored.
