The Lahore High Court (LHC) while setting aside the detention orders of Chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has ordered his release forthwith.
The court passed these orders in a petition filed by his wife Maimoona Saeed challenging his detention by the respondent government even after court release orders.
It may be mentioned that Hafiz Muhammad Saeed was detained under MPO on August 28, hours after he was freed from a period of house arrest. The law officer in his arguments said that Saeed's charity group, had been conducting activities which may prove detrimental to public peace and tranquillity.
The LHC after hearing arguments ruled that Saeed's detention was illegal. The court observed whether international pressure or pressure of any country is not interference in the country's internal affairs. The court further observed that fund raising campaign was lunched by the workers but Jamaat Chief was detained. The court also observed that president of Pakistan himself had appreciated the activities of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa during earth quake relief work.
The court after hearing both the sides at length set aside the detention orders of Hafiz Saeed and directed the respondent government to release him forthwith.
The LHC, while declining the request of PML-N lawyers forum head for amending the petition to reply the charges levelled on Dr A.Q. Khan in a book written by President General Musharraf, has disposed of a petition praying to the court to ensure proper medical treatment of Dr A.Q. Khan.
The petitioner president PML-N lawyers forum head Nasir Bhutta had approached the court with prayer to direct the respondent government to arrange proper medical treatment of Dr A.Q. Khan. The petitioner had also prayed to the court to allow a delegation of the lawyers to see him.
