In a midnight move, the Establishment Division reshuffled the country's top bureaucracy, as a result of which, Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Javed Sadiq Malik has been appointed Federal Ombudsman. He tendered his resignation to become eligible for this constitutional post.
Economic Affairs Division (EAD) Secretary Khalid Saeed, a DMG officer, has been transferred and posted as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. Malik Akram, Secretary, Planning Division, has been transferred and posted as EAD Secretary, while Ports and Shipping Secretary Zia-ur-Rehman has been transferred and posted as Planning Division Secretary.
Communication Secretary Tariq Mahmood has been given the additional charge of Ministry of Ports and Shipping. Sources told Business Recorder that transfer orders of secretaries were issued on Monday night. However, some officers in the federal government were updated at Sehri about the development.
