Extension in sales tax returns date hailed

The commercial importers have welcomed the decision by the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) to extend the last date for the filing of quarterly sales tax returns from October 15 to October 31, 2006.
However, commercial importers also said that the CBR had revised the format for the filing of the returns for the period July to September, 2006 mid-way and this had caused the importers great agony because very few could carry out the required changes in their returns after the revised format was made public, by the closing date of October 15, 2006.
