Lieutenant Governor of Ontario James K. Bartlemen appreciated the role being played by the Pakistanis in the economic uplift of Canada and expressed the hope that more and more Pakistanis would come to Canada in the coming years and follow their fellow Pakistanis.
Lieutenant Governor of Ontario held a detailed discussions with Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro, who is leading Pakistan Senate delegation, which is currently on a visit to Canada at the invitation of the Speaker of the Canadian Senate, according to a message here from Toronto.
The Senate Chairman gave a brief overview of the economic policies pursued by the present government of Pakistan for improving the socio-economic conditions in the country. He invited honourable Governor of Ontario James K. Bartlemen to pay a visit to Pakistan, which was readily accepted by him. The Senate Chairman and the members of the delegation also met honourable Premier of the Province of Ontario Dalton McGuinty.
The Ontario Premier, welcoming the Pakistan Senate delegation, gave a detailed overview of the role being played by Pakistanis in the Canadian society and hoped that they would continue to interact and integrate with the mainstream Canada with the same level of zeal and enthusiasms.
Dalton McGuinty informed the delegation that he was looking forward to visit Pakistan in January, 2007 and hoped that the visit would pave the way for increased economic and trade relations. The Senate Chairman thanked the government of Ontario for providing two million Canadian dollars for the earthquake relief activities and also for establishing educational institutions in the hit areas.
