The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) is preparing National Business Agenda (NBA) of Pakistan aimed at achieving goals by year 2020. This was stated by FPCCI President Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed at a meeting of "Focus Group on NBA of Pakistan" here on Wednesday.
He said the aim of the NBA was to unleash the export and investment potential of the country in the globe with the idea to achieve competitiveness to ensure enhancement of global exportability of Pakistan. The document would be presented to the government by December this year, he added.
Saeed said the FPCCI, chambers and association were lobbying to get support each other to help trade and industry progress in the country. However, it has been felt that most of the time the efforts were made in isolation for one industry or a section of industry and were not based on the wider implication of the government policies and resultant effects on other sectors of the economy. This advocated the need to prepare a cohesive strategy bringing the major sectors of trade and industry at a common platform, he added.
Saeed said we had discussed all the problems and their possible solutions, and within next one week we would carry out the specific issues and sort out their solution. The Focus Group would held three more meetings at Lahore, Islamabad and again in Karachi in which concerned ministers would be invited to chair the sessions. By the end of December we would prepare the report, he added.
Initially, "we have identified 10 to 12 sectors, however this process would be continued and the number of sectors would gradually change and increase every year," he said. The objective is to attract the government's attention and decide its priorities to the main issues to be faced during next 15 years. It includes all topics of the different spheres of life.
The meeting was attended by Chaudhry Muhammad Akram, Dr M Nishat, Furrukh S Ansari, Ghulam Sabir Khan, Mohsin Khalid, Dr Muhammad Abbas Chaudhry, Mohammad Zameer Ahmed, M Zubair Habib, Professor Dr Shahida Wizarat, Syed Salahuddin Hyder, Waqar Hyder, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Zahid Zaheer, Zahid Hussain, Iqbal Ebrahim, Zarrar R Zubairi, Arif Habib, Faheem Jehangir Khan, Hammad Siddiqui and Samir S Amir.-PR
