"The recent reported developments in dialogue between India and Pakistan is encouraging to the people of Jammu and Kashmir", said ex Chief Justice of Azad Jammu Kashmir High Court (AJKHC) Justice Abdul Majeed Mallick (Retd).
"However, it is feared that India may back out on one or the other pretext, from the ongoing dialogue process", Justice Mallick (Retd) observed, while talking to reporters here on Tuesday.
He continued that it was well understood, that the Indian government and diplomatic circle were aware of the fact that whatever the solution of Jammu Kashmir issue was, India was on giving end and not vice versa.
Justice Majeed who also heads the Jammu Kashmir Liberation League, said that for India, unfortunate, position was that come what may, India take it as defeat and disgrace to acknowledge the right of self determination of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. India takes it granted that a forceful occupation of Jammu & Kashmir would ultimately result as settlement of the problem.
He opined as saying that the long delay in the settlement of the Kashmir issue, from Indian point of view, had favoured New Delhi as with the passage of time, the real force and pressure of international community to resolve the issue under the auspices of United Nations has diluted, he observed.
This, he continued, had encouraged New Delhi to delay the dialogue and postpone the resolution as in Indian view, the time would automatically resolve the issue, he observed. "But the fact of the matter is that India has forgotten that despite various debacles and traumas the people of Jammu & Kashmir have not succumbed to Indian use of force, temptation of benefits and finally the passage of time", he said.
The Kashmiri leader said that the spirit of the freedom movement had gained more momentum with the passage of time and it had added to their determination and commitment that no sacrifice was greater to the cause of achievement of liberty from India.
