Pakistan and Spain on Friday discussed bilateral ties, which are characterised by shared values of common perception on various important issues and convergence of interest in many areas, the Foreign Ministry said.
Spanish Health Minister Elena Salgado, accompanied by other Spanish officials, called on Foreign Minister Khurshid M. Kasuri at the Foreign Office, a Ministry's statement said. "They agreed that regular high-level contacts have provided an impetus to strengthening bilateral co-operation in diverse fields between the two countries".
They expressed satisfaction at the co-operation existing between the two countries in various fields. Kasuri briefed the Spanish minister about the latest developments on Afghanistan where Spain had a large number of troops under Nato command.
The two ministers also discussed the matter of Pakistani community in Spain and Pakistan government's commitment to curb illegal immigration and human trafficking. Foreign Minister Kasuri briefed the Spanish Minister about various measures and legislation taken to deal with this issue.
The two ministers discussed matters of mutual interest including Spanish candidature for the election of Director General, World Health Organisation and principles and strategies for a new phase in the World Health Organisation.
