Long queues of vehicles both public and transport were seen at different entry points of the provincial metropolis, as people hailing from different walks of life who had gone to their hometowns to celebrate Eid on Friday started to return to the provincial metropolis.
Lahore railway station, Badami Bagh bus stand, Yateemkhana Chowk and other terminals of private public transport vehicles were seen full of passengers. Long queues of vehicles were also seen at Ravi toll plaza of motorway. Some of the passengers also complained of over charging by the operators of the buses.
It may be mentioned that quite a large number of people hailing from different parts of the province in particular and other parts of the country in general are residing in the provincial metropolis to earn their livelihood.
During Eid holidays, various important city roads wore a deserted look and no traffic jam was seen in any part of the city. With a large number of vehicular's population, the city was in the grip of noise and environmental pollution.
Although, there was no public holiday on Friday, but attendance in different government offices remained thin. Those who attended the offices remained busy in exchanging Eid greetings. Practically, no work was made in different government offices, sources in the agriculture house said here on Friday.
Moreover, people continue to throng parks and other recreational places along with their children. Most of the business centres in the city also remained closed on Friday. Hopefully, business activities will resume on Saturday.
