Punjab has emerged as a role model by taking revolutionary steps for the promotion of education. This was stated by Punjab Communication and Work Minister Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan, while addressing a ceremony to distribute appointment letters among the new teachers.
He was appreciative of the education policies of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and said that the chief minister took bold decision to declare education free up to the matric level.
Later, books were also provided to the students of government schools free of cost, he said, and added the government also took another revolutionary step to give scholarships to the female students of the backward districts.
The minister said that more steps are afoot to improve the quality of education. Missing facilities are also being provided in all government schools while educators are also being recruited to impart best education in this province, he said and added that government was also considering a proposal to facilitate the students of the private schools in the province.
Congratulating the newly selected educators, the provincial minister urged them to fulfil their professional obligations and play their role in materialising the chief minister's slogan of 'Literate Punjab.'
