Former Governor NWFP and central leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP), K M Azhar breathed his last at Combined Military Hospital here on Sunday morning. He was 89. According to family sources, K M Azhar was admitted in CMH Lahore after brain haemorrhage on October 22 where he died.
Lieutenant General K M Azhar (Retd), who was born in 1918, got commission in the British Indian Army in the year 1945 and took part in the Second World War on Burma Sector. He also participated in three wars against India.
Azhar also served as the President of Pakistan Hockey Federation and Pakistan Cricket Board. His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Garrison mosque, Lahore Cantt on Monday at 3:30 pm.
