NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani said his government had put the province on a right direction leading to economic prosperity and multiple developments and hoped that with release of net hydel profit amount more uplift plans would be executed and the ongoing schemes would be completed in stipulated period. He was talking to members of provincial assembly in his chamber here on Tuesday.
The chief minister said the amount of net hydel profit would be utilised for the betterment and wellbeing of the masses, saying after the implementation of award, the province would get rid of internal and external debt.
Declaring the decision of arbitration commission as a victory for the MMA government, Durrani said it would help generate job opportunities and create new avenues of development.
He said providing all-out facilities and basic amenities to the general masses was top most priority of his government and added that in this respect the role of elected representatives of the people could not be ruled out.
He appreciated MPAs' role in resolving the problems being faced by the people of their respective constituencies and taking keen interest in uplift activities.
Durrani said the ongoing schemes initiated by his government would bring real development in the province. He said that besides bringing development in every spheres of life, the government had taken realistic steps for attaining the provincial rights. He appealed to the MPAs to make their bonds strong among the masses and take concrete measures for resolving the grievances of common people.
Later, talking to media people, the chief minister said the provincial assembly had unanimously passed a resolution condemning Bajaur operation in which innocent children were killed.
"In this resolution we have expressed our feelings and reaction to the world and Pakistani government. What happened in Bajaur was injustice and innocent students were made target in the attack," Durrani commented. He said that the resolution was clear evidence that the people of NWFP were united in their stand against the military operation in tribal areas.
