The provincial government, in view of increasing street crimes, has decided to ban renting motorcycles with immediate effect in the cosmopolitan city.
According to details, Sindh Minister for Transport, Adil Siddiqui has directed secretary home and IGP Sindh to take concrete steps to check the rising rate of traffic accidents and street crimes in the province in general and in Karachi in particular.
He was issuing directives to the home secretary and IGP here on Tuesday, he said that rising trend in the street crimes had been noted on higher levels including Governor, and it had been decided to ban renting motorcycles.
The minister said involvement of rented motorbikes had been observed in street crimes and incidents of robberies, due to which this step had been taken. He also directed the IGP to alert all the traffic zones adding that strict action should be taken against the traffic rules violators.
