Materialising a unique idea of equipping drivers with awareness of ultra modern safety measures and driving ethics, the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organised a four-day training workshop for drivers of its transport fleet with an aim to add a distinction to the style of driving of the University drivers.
The workshop, attended by 95 drivers of the University, was organised in collaboration with Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP). Assistant Superintendent Police, Muhammad Aftab was the chief guest in the closing ceremony of the training workshop while Inspector Sajid Mehmood of ITP along with some other officials was present as resource persons.
Officials from ITP and scholars from IIUI delivered lectures on various aspects of traffic rules, road safety measures, driving ethics and Islamic values of travelling and the rights of ways. The participating drivers took yawning interest in the contents of the course and termed it an event needed by every driver.
IIUI Transport Deputy Director, Saif-ur-Rehman, while commenting on the success of the course said that most of the drivers of the University transport come from private sector and needed some orientation to come up to the standard of the University, that was why the idea of such course was developed and materialised after discussing it with ITP and the University officials.
He termed the experiment wonderful and resolved to conduct such courses more frequently. He said that not only the participating drivers, but the Islamabad traffic police has appreciated the idea to the extent that Sultan Azam Taimuri, SP Traffic Islamabad had offered full co-operation to organise such course for the teachers and officers of the University who own their private vehicles.
