The process of printing of revised national curriculum for class I to XII will start by the end of this month, said Federal Education Minister Lieutenant General Javed Ashraf Qazi (Retd).
"The proposed curriculum has already been sent to the provincial governments for printing and publication," he said in an interview with Associated Press of Pakistan here on Thursday.
An inter-provincial educational conference will be held next month to decide a schedule of time-frame and specific classes for gradual implementation of the new educational plan at primary, middle and higher levels. It has been proposed to introduce the new syllabus to be introduced to classes III, VI, IX and XI at the first stage.
Expressing strong resolve of the present government to revamp the entire education system in the country, Javed Ashraf Qazi hoped the revised curriculum would give a big boost to educational and intellectual level of the new generation. "We wish to enforce a quality and meaningful educational system in the country, which helps the students to realise their future goals, living a better life and to serve the country as a useful citizen," he added.
He said, the new scheme of education would be introduced from September next year that will also envisage a new plan of examination. This is aimed at enabling the governments' schools to meet the international education standard and to make them more attractive, as compared to private institutions. The new curriculum would be fully implemented by 2009, in phases.
To a question, the Education Minister said that prominent educationists and scholars of all schools of thought were involved in the revision of new curriculum and they were agreed to it.
