City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal reiterated on Thursday that public complaints about fumigation lodged on helpline of the CDGK would be given due attention. This, he said while talking to citizens, who called to lodge their complaints at CDGK's help line no 0800-12012 during his surprise visit to the helpline at Civic Center on Thursday morning.
He said that city government, in this regard, has set up a special cell of spray vehicles that would be only visiting those areas, from where complaints were lodged. He listened to telephone calls of citizens for one and half-hour and issued orders to redress their complaints.
The complainants from areas of North Nazimabad, North Karachi, New Karachi, Federal B Area, Gulistan-e-Johar, Landhi, Korangi, Orangi, Baldia towns and other parts of the metropolis were about lack of co-ordinated spray drive in these areas. The private schools administration also requested of more fumigation sprays at their institutions.
Some complainants from Cantonment, Cantt and Askari-I areas complained that the administration of their areas was not taking interest in spraying of germicides. On the occasion, Kamal directed the incharge of spray drive Dr Shaukat Zaman to add one more telephone number to the helpline.
He also instructed him for conducting fumigation spray in concerned area within five hours of receiving complaint. "A team of motorcycle riders too be prepared, besides spray vehicles, for spraying germicides in those places where vehicles had no access or conduct sprays inside buildings through handsets", he added.
City Nazim ordered for sending the fumigation staff even in night hours to areas of complaints to keep the fumigation process continues round the clock. He clarified though the city government was not responsible for whole the city, however it was decided to sprays even those areas which were out of its limits. Meanwhile, germicide sprays were conducted thrice across the city on Thursday.
