Top-seeded Jelena Jankovic rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over American Vania King on Thursday at the 175,000 dollar WTA Bell Challenge. In June, the 21-year-old Jankovic edged King 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, in the second round at Wimbledon.
A surprise semi-finalist at the US Open, the Serbian dropped just four games in her first-round match against Milagros Sequera of Venezuela, while King had to rally past Varvara Lepchenko of Uzbekistan, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Jankovic moves on to face eighth-seeded Russian Olga Poutchkova in Friday's quarter-finals of the tier III hardcourt event.
