HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares closed 3.26 percent higher on Thursday, mirroring rises in other Asian markets, after European leaders announced a plan aimed at resolving the region's crippling debt crisis.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 622.16 points to 19,688.70 on turnover of HK$93.92 billion ($12.08 billion).
Chinese shares closed up 0.33 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was up 8.13 points to 2,435.61 on turnover of 75.1 billion yuan ($11.8 billion).
