Apple Computer Inc said on Friday that it's adding a red 8-gigabyte version of its tiny iPod nano to its popular line of digital music players, offering to donate money to charity for every player it sells.
The new device, which retails for about $249, can store about 2,000 songs, or double the capacity of a $199 4-gig red nano player that's already on the market. Apple donates $10 to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa for each red-colored nano that it sells. Nanos also come in other colors at the same prices, though the computer company doesn't donate money to charity when it sells those models.
