The three-day Second World Islamic Economic Forum Islamabad-2006 conference will open here on Sunday to chalk out a road map for the economic and social uplift of the Muslim world and provide opportunities for successful integration with the Western world.
The Forum, successor of OIC Business Forum, brings together heads of governments, top business leaders, political elite, entrepreneurs, journalists, intelligentsia, opinion makers and representatives of the civil society.
In the inaugural session, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will deliver keynote address on ''Enhancing Global Competitiveness and Trade Among Muslim Countries'' and President General Pervez Musharraf will preside over the plenary session on Monday to deliberate on ''Challenges for the Muslim Leadership in a Globalised World''.
The theme of the Forum is ''Unleashing the Potential of Emerging Markets''. It is hoped that the Forum would provide the premier platform for exploring opportunities in Muslim economies, including an excellent opportunity for informal business interaction, networking and regional consultations besides identifying and developing new partnerships in energy, agriculture, industry, trade and services.
The Forum will include discussions on critical issues such as:
(i) Challenges for Muslim Leadership in a Globalised World, (ii) Successful Entrepreneurs in a Global marketplace;
(ii) Opportunities in infrastructure Development: Public-Private Partnership for Successful Implementation;
(iii) Opportunities in information, telecommunication, and outsourcing: new growth model;
(iv) Managing emerging demand: the new global energy paradigm;
(v) Leveraging the global supply chain for competitive advantage and value creation;
(vi)Tourism: the next growth industry and
(vii) diversifying investment portfolios for profit and security.
