Pre-Entry test for admission in the 1st year Engineering, Architecture, Planning Art and Design and City, and Regional Planning 2006 07 (7th batch) for 16 different disciplines at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro held here on Sunday.
As many as 4,800 candidates including girls appeared in the test held at the Public School in peace full manners from 10 am to 12 pm.
The results of the test in the merit list would be displayed at University notice boards on November 7 while the interviews of successful candidates would be held in accordance with the district basis from November 16 to 20 at MUET. The MUET committee was headed by Professor Muhammed Soomar Khatri and consisted of Professor Mumtaz Memon, Professor Nadar Ali Khowaja and Professor Sikandar Ali Arbani.
A total of 5,050 candidates had applied for admission but forms of 223 candidates were rejected for different reasons. As many as 4,800 candidates including 500 girls, appeared in the test for 931 seats in 16 different disciplines.
MUET Vice Chancellor Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Rajput along with members of the vigilance committee Syed Muhammad Hussain, District Co-ordination Officer,(HYD), and others visited the examination centre and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.
Dr Rajput talking to journalists has shown his gratitude regarding ranking of MUET as the best Engineering University in Sindh and top 5th in Pakistan.
He observed that the standard of education of MUET had improved to a great extent. He recalled that the MUET was the first Public Engineering University in Pakistan and the institute had also developed linkages with six reputed universities of the world.
MUET had inked MoUs with the University of Leeds UK, University of Nottingham, UK, Montana University, Austria, and Colorado State University, USA, which had introduced Pre-Admission Test. Vice Chancellor said now the University had developed expertise to conduct tests for admissions and appointments in different organisations.
