Bombardier Inc and its joint-venture partners in China said on Monday they have won a $326-million contract to deliver 51 metro trains to Shanghai. Bombardier, the world's biggest train manufacturer, said its share of the contract is worth $104 million.
Its joint venture partners are Changchun Bombardier Railway Vehicles Co Ltd and Bombardier-CPC Propulsion Systems Co Ltd delivery of the 51 MOVIA metro trains, which represent 306 metro cars, are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2008, and end by 2009. The trains will operate on Shanghai's Metro Line 9.
The new metro cars will be assembled at Changchun at Bombardier Railway's production facilities, and the propulsion equipment will be manufactured at Bombardier-CPC Propulsion Systems' production site in Changzhou.
