Central Development Working Party (CDWP) of the Planning Development Department has approved the PC-1 costing Rs 878 million for establishment of Tool, Dies and Moulds Centre at Gujranwala.
According to a spokesman of the Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (Tusdec), the centre would be of great significance for the small and medium businesses that could not make large investments associated with such facilities.
This institute would also raise the skill level of as many as 750 workers annually as part of its training activities, which would ultimately generate employment, increase pay rates and the standard of living.
The process of transfer of land to Gujranwala tools, dies and moulds centre has been started while the Revenue department has already forwarded its recommendations to the Board of Revenue, Government of Punjab for the transfer of agreed land in the name of the GTDMC.
Subsequent to the instructions of Suleman Ghani, Chairman, Planning & Development Board, Government of Punjab, a site survey was conducted in early September this year by Tusdec team under the guidance of DCO Gujranwala to select the most suitable site at the roundabout of Daska Road (Bypass), for the centre.
The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has welcomed the government's decision to set up tools, dies and moulds centre in the central Punjab town known as hub of small and medium industries.
In a statement on Tuesday, GCCI President, Rana Shahzad Hafeez expressed his gratitude to Tusdec for selecting Gujranwala for the establishment of the centre that would provide the local industry with state-of-the-art designing, training, consultancy and manufacturing facilities.
He hoped that the project would not only help Gujranwala industries become internationally competitive but also produce more skilled manpower in the field of TDM.
