President Pervez Musharraf has said government is concentrating on education and human resource development in the country. In his address on the occasion of the first foundation day ceremony of Army Public Schools and Colleges System (APSACS) here at the General Headquarters Auditorium on Tuesday.
The President said that allocation of funds for education has been increased from 2.7 percent to 4 percent of GDP. If economy keeps prospering then more funds could be made available for the education sector. President said that education is the basic ingredient for the healthy foundation of any nation and government is fully committed to do its utmost for betterment in this important sector.
Underlining the importance of English language, President said that we must pay extra attention in improving our English, while remaining good in Urdu as well.
Stressing the need for technical and vocational education, which is of paramount importance for improvement of the Industry, Musharraf said at the Federal Level NAVTECH has been established to oversee the entire technical and vocational education needs.
Highlighting the importance of professional education, he said that as many as nine Engineering universities are being set up with the collaboration of developed countries.
He said that out of these, two universities will start functioning from the year 2007 while remaining will start imparting education in year 2008. For healthy growth, besides education President also underlined the importance of character building, physical and intellectual health.
President, while appreciating efforts of the administration of APSACS secretariat, said the achievements they have been able to attain during a short span of time since their establishment are commendable and it should be taken as a role model by others also who are committed in the field of education.
