Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) pre-Haj operation shall commence from November 24, 2006 and will continue till December 25, while the post Haj flights would start from January 4 and conclude on February 3, 2007.
This year PIA will be transporting approximately 128,000 Haj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia through 354 Haj flights from Karachi (including Multan, Faisalabad and Sukkur), Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.
For the convenience of the pilgrims, PIA has made special arrangements to provide Ahrams to males and lady gowns with scarf to females. PIA successfully completed its Umrah operation 2006 by operating 179 extra flights. The Umrah passengers travelled by PIA to Jeddah were 52,000 while passengers from Jeddah to Pakistan were 55,000 approximately with an overall punctuality of flights over 96 percent.
The boarding cards for return flights were issued in advance to the pilgrims at the time of departure. The PIA operated total Umrah extra sections by its own fleet against leased capacity last year.
