Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court Mr Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed on Tuesday ordered federal government to implement promotion orders of three senior officers of the Income Tax Group in accordance with the earlier directions of the Sindh High Court and report compliance within two months.
In his judgement, the chief justice has also taken notice of persistence defiance of SHC's orders by the government. He has noted that upon specific assurance of Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, advocate for the respondents, that he will personally take up the matter with the Secretary Revenue Division, Chairman Central Selection Board and the Prime Minister's Secretariat and time is being granted for the implementation of promotion orders.
The court has also noted that in the event of failure to comply with court directives, the secretary revenue division as well as each and every member of the Central Selection Board will be liable to be proceeded against for contempt of the authority of the Sindh high Court.
The three petitioners, Khan Matiur Rehman Khan, Iqbal Ahmed Jumani and Malik Bashir Ahmed, all BPS-20 officers, twice superseded by junior officers and finding the selection board acting contrary to instruction of the superior judiciary filed petition to seek redress. The court took notice and instructed the federal government to implement its orders within two months.
