Pakistan National Selection Committee on Friday announced a 15-member One Day International (ODI) squad against Australia. Skipping Muhammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal and picking up fast bowler Muhammad Irfan.
The seven foot giant would be making his return in the international after four months, since last representing Pakistan in ODIs against England in September last summer.
Irfan, who look excited to prove his mantle at the pace and bounce friendly tracks of Australia have sent a clear ultimatum to Aussies skipper Steve Smith, and with his ever imposing height Irfan believes that he has a good chance against one of the best batsman in current game.
I am the only bowler with this sort of height so I feel I have an advantage over others which I will use on the bouncy pitches of Australia to take wickets, Irfan told The Express Tribune.
My main target will be Smith, who is in good form right now but as my bounce is unusual I will try to use it to bowl him out, he added.
Mohammad Irfan have had an on and off career since making his debut in 2010, and has claimed 83 scalps from his appearances in 60 ODIs.
Pakistan however, having lost the ongoing Test series against Australia, would be hoping to gain some redemption in the upcoming five-match ODI series, which begins from January 13 at the Gabba.
