Morocco's state grains agency ONCIL said on Wednesday it had awarded MSCB trading house a licence to import 9,500 tonnes of US durum wheat. The shipment is due before December 31, ONICL added in a statement.
Traders said the ONICL did not attract offers for the full tendered amount of 110,000 tonnes durum wheat and 120,000 of soft wheat from the US market, because of high import duties and global prices. ONICL issued the tender on October 18.
A leading wheat trading house official told Reuters that the country's main cereals traders group FNCL had sent a letter to the ONICL on Tuesday to protest against high import tariffs.
