Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) has supplied medical aid of over 5 million dollar in the earthquake affected areas.
Addressing a press conference here, President Appna Dr Abdul Rasheed Paracha said on Thursday that medical aid has been provided in the form of personnel and as well as expensive supplies and equipment.
He said more than 170 doctors and nurses provided their services in the quake affected areas through this platform. Dr Rasheed said an overall 7 million dollar have been expended so far in relief and rehabilitation activities including construction of schools, temporary shelters, clinics etc.
He said an amount of one million dollar will further be utilised in reconstruction activities in the affected areas. He said a Girls Middle school will be constructed in Kathai (AJK) while a basic health unit will be reconstructed in Anwar Sharif (AJK).
He said the organisation also provided assistance to the orphans of the affected areas besides constructing school building for them. He said the organisation is running its charity programme "Appna Sehat" in Pakistan at the grass root level taking care of the primary health of the community in various villages.
National Co-ordinator, Appna Pakistan Earthquake Relief Mission Dr Saeed Akhtar said the organisation played an important role in collecting funds for the quake victims and utilised these funds for the deserving people. He said the organisation is working in the affected areas in co-ordination with Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) and other concerned provincial departments.
