MMA President Qazi Hussain Ahmad on Thursday said the sad incident of suicidal attack on armymen in Dargai was an outcome of the wrong policies being persuaded by Pervez Musharraf, which must now be corrected forthwith.
Addressing a function at Alhamrah Hall in connection with Iqbal Day, Qazi claimed that the US forces had attacked a madresshah in Bajour Agency and used remote control aircraft for this purpose. He regretted that the present rulers had no courage to even blame America for this air strike.
"'We are against the suicidal attacks that claimed lives of innocent people but what to say when bomber aircraft are used against the innocent people."
He said the decision regarding launching a movement against the government was final. "We wish to take along the opposition and other religious parties in the movement and would contact the leadership of all the political and religious parties in this regard," he said.
Speaking on the occasion, PPP leader Senator Raza Rabbani said the federation was facing threat due to government policies on Balochistan. The Dargai incident is also happened because of such policies; hence government should immediately review the same. He urged President General Pervez Musharraf to be aware of the changing situation while the US citizens had also rejected policies of violence.
When Punjab Minister for Law and Local Government, Raja Basharat came to dais for delivering a speech, the audience started raising slogans calling him 'Lota' and chanting 'go Musharraf go'. However, Qazi intervened and brought the situation under control.
In his brief remarks on the occasion, Raja Basharart stressed the need for promoting the culture of tolerance. Former finance minister and PML-N leader Sartaj Aziz stressed for need of modern research on Allama Iqbal so that awareness of Iqbal's philosophy could be created among the new generation. With implementation of Iqbal's philosophy, the dream of an Islamic democratic welfare state could be realised, he added.
Fateh Muhammad Mali, Ferozeuddin and Attaul Haq Qasmi also spoke on the occasion.
NNI adds: Qazi Hussain Ahmad has called upon the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) to make alliance with them for the coming general elections.
He said that the present government had completely failed to protect the lives and properties of the people and reiterated the pledge to launch a movement against the government.
He said the military rulers has discovered the slogan 'First Pakistan' but according to the government it means to destroy Afghanistan, allow the US forces to use our soil for military actions, recognise Israel and banishing the ideology of Allama Iqbal.
