Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) on Thursday alleged that the government had endangered the life of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan by following a 'foul path.'
PML-N Joint Secretary Muhammad Siddiqul Farooque during a news conference charged that President Pervez Musharraf government would be responsible in case of Dr Khan's death, which would be portrayed as natural.
Releasing a fact-sheet on the father of the country's nuclear programme, Farooque revealed that Dr Khan had sent a message to his friends on Monday that he was "in a tight squeeze." He said the ISPR DG had told the national press on November 4 that "the condition of Dr Abdul Qadeer was critical."
He said when the government brought back Dr Khan from Karachi to Islamabad, setting aside the advice of doctors that he should take rest for at least 15 days, the helpless scientist said: "I have been surrounded by the people of Kufa."
PML leader appealed the political parties, the national institutions, the superior judiciary, intelligentsia, columnists, writers and the people to take notice of this situation and come to the aid of Dr Qadeer.
Farooque said Dr Khan wanted Dr Adeeb Rizvi to operate on him but he was operated upon by another panel of doctors, and to add insult to the injury, this panel of doctors was restricted to release a report on the health of the scientist and talk to the press.
The biopsy report of Dr Khan has been received but not released so far, he added. He said ISPR released statements about the health and treatment of Dr Khan, most of which were misleading, raising serious question among the people about the safety of their hero.
