Major stock markets outside the United States ended on Friday.
EUROPE STOCKS EXCHANGE: European stocks dipped, pulled lower by drugs, telecom and mining stocks, as merger activity continued to bubble away and investors digested the latest batch of corporate earnings. Among major movers, Spanish builder Sacyr Vallehermoso jumped on earnings optimism and the prospect of a higher Repsol stake, while Hermes International tumbled after its quarterly results.
The pan-European FTSEurofirst index of 300 leading shares ended down 0.2 percent at 1,464.19 points, up 1 percent on the week and just shy of its highest level since May 2001, reached on Thursday.
FRANKFURT STOCKS EXCHANGE: The DAX index ended at 6,357.77 points, down 0.91 or 0.01 percent, but up 116.62 on the week.
PARIS STOCKS EXCHANGE: The CAC-40 index closed at 5,447.5 points, down 1.1 or 0.02 percent but gaining 111.2 points in the week.
ZURICH STOCKS EXCHANGE: The Swiss market index closed at 8,735.82 points, down 28.41 or 0.32 percent, a rise of 37.33 points since last Friday.
MILAN STOCKS EXCHANGE: The All Share Mibtel index closed at 31,149 points, up 144 or 0.46 percent and gaining 525 points since last weekend.
SYDNEY STOCKS EXCHANGE: Shares were flat as losses in ex-dividend stock National Australia Bank were offset by gains in Woodside Petroleum, while Downer EDI surged on a A$3.6 billion order win. The S&P/ASX 200 Index added 7.7 points, or 0.14 percent, to close at 5,436.7. The index edged up just 4.7 points or 0.1 percent on the week, taking its weekly gains to a sixth week.
JOHANNESBURG STOCKS EXCHANGE: Anglo American Plc lit up shares after the Oppenheimer family said they had a third of their stake in the diversified miner, fuelling speculation of further stake sales. The All-share index closed at 23,819.21 points, up 134.54 or 0.57 percent, adding 228.64 points over the week. The All Gold index closed at 2,919.05 points, up 51.16 or 1.78 percent, a gain of 11.71 points since November 3.
