The last date for depositing the Cotton Standardisation Fee on the bales pressed on September 29-30, 2006 and 31 days of the month of October 2006 has been extended from November 10 to 18 as a special case.
According to a statement of the Textile Ministry this step has been taken to facilitate the Cotton Ginners as they will be depositing this fee for the first time since its levy under section 15 (1) of the Cotton Standardisation Ordinance 2002, vide SRO No 1013 (1)/2006 dated 29-09-2006.
It added that the fee is levied @ Rs 5 per each bale of cotton pressed in a ginning factory during a month, which is required to be deposited by the ginner by the 10th of the following month through challan, in one of the designated branches on National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), whose list has already been published through newspapers for the benefit of the ginners.
The Cotton Ginners are requested to avail the facility and deposit the fee by the extended date. They are further advised to sent a copy of the paid challan along with their monthly return in Form 'A' to the Pakistan Cotton Standards Institute's head office at Karachi by November 18.
