Pakistan and France have cordial relations and it would continue to grow in the years ahead. This was stated by Gilles F. Bonnaud, former Consul General of France in Karachi while inaugurating Al-Mehrab Tibbi Imdad (AMTI), a free hospice for poor cancer patients, here on Saturday.
Bonnaud, who is currently Deputy Director North Africa and the Middle East at the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs, said that France was proud to be part of the hospice because supporting needy people was priority of his country. He said that the noble cause had boosted the image of Pakistan.
Bonnaud, as Consul General in Karachi had initiated the fund raising campaign for the free hospice and the campaign was sustained by his successor, said Justice Majida Aziz, member AMTI.
She said that AMTI had established itself as a genuine and credible organisation dedicated to decrease the suffering of those for whom life had lost its meaning and worthiness to live.
Encouragement from donors and AMTI general body members has led to establish the 25-bed hospice for terminally ill patients, she said and adding the hospice constructed with the cost of Rs 15.7 million through fund raising and support of the French Consulate General in Karachi. The facility is ready and needs more Rs 10 million for equipment to make it functional.
