Secretary General Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Mushahid Hussain Syed has said that Islam was a religion of peace, love and tolerance and it always taught its followers the lessons of peaceful co-existence.
"The negative impression being creating by some western people regarding Islam and Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH , sane people have realised the righteousness of Islam round the globe and particularly in west", Mushahid said while addressing a conference to remember Moulana Jalalud Din Roomi, a spiritual saint and writer on ancient era of Islam. The conference held at Eidgah Sharif Rawalpindi was addressed by ambassadors and diplomats of various Muslim countries including Uzbekistan, Iran, Azerbaijan, besides Nat Robin Professor of New York University.
Moulana Roomi preached Islam in West and played a bridge between Muslims and the West, he said adding that the role of saints like Roomi in spreading Islam in west is great and he gave west a realisation that Islam is a tolerant religion. "We must follow the footsteps of Moulana Roomi and take Islam to those who remain deprived of this great religion", he said adding that spiritual saints of Muslim World have preached the soft image of Islam and guided people towards this universal religion.
Mushahid Hussain called upon west to take a realistic look on Islam. "They would find the true picture and realise the truthfulness and tolerance in Islam if they look into it", he said adding that the negative propaganda started by some people from west would not serve any cause but create a gulf between Islam and west.
Rejecting the impression that Islam spread in the world by force, Mushahid said that Pakistan, America and whole world has reached to conclusion that Islam has spread through high character of Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH, his devoted companions and spiritual saints. "Islam has not spread through sword, but Muslim saints have proved their character and attracted the non Muslims to convert to Islam", he said.
