Nine delegations to the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (Ideas) called on President Pervez Musharraf here at the Karachi Expo Centre on Tuesday. These included those from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Thailand, Bosnia, Mayanmar and China.
Some of the delegations such as those from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, UAE and Ukraine wanted to look at joint ventures and importing from Pakistan.
A Chinese delegation of Norincoi led by its chairman Ma Zhi Geng also called on President Musharraf and discussed matters pertaining to co-operation in defence field.
A seven-member delegation of Makro Habib, which included the Chief Executive Officer Patrick Kennedy of SHY Holding NV Netherlands and Rafiq Habib, Chairman of House of Habib, informed the President regarding the opening up of Makro stores in various cities of Pakistan.
The delegations from Malaysia, Egypt, France, Brunei, Qatar and Mayanmar called on the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Ehsan-ul-Hag. A number of delegations also called on the Defence Minister, Rao Sikandar Iqbal, and the minister for Defence Production, Habibullah Waraich.
