Co-curriculum inter-departmental competitions of the Fatima Jinnah Women University started here on Tuesday with recitation from the Holy Quran and Na'at competition among the students of different departments.
Sadia Javed of Islamic Studies Department topped the Husn-i-Qirat contest in which 10 students of the university took part. Aalia Hassan of Environment Science and Hafiza Sumaira got second and third positions respectively in the competition.
Mehwish Fatima of Economics Department topped the Na'at competition while Komal Tariq of Environmental Science and Zartaj Sahir of BCS stood second and third respectively.
Qari Muhammad Yousuf, Qari Najam Mustafa and Qari Allah Nawaz were nominated as judges for the competition.
Distributing the prizes among the winners of the competition the Vice Chancellor said that the interest of the students in co-curriculum activities is an ample proof for their interest in life. She said that competition of Husne Qirat and Husne Na'at helped students to take guidance from Holy Qura'n and Seerat of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The contest programme will continue for three days.
