Panamagate case: Maryam Nawaz submits response

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz submitted her reply before the Supreme Court bench includinig five-year details of her income, during the third consecutive day of Panamagate Case hearing on Friday, .

A five-member bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa resumed hearing of the Panama Leaks case today.

According to latest reports, senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja, the newly-engaged lawyer of PMs children, appeared on behalf of Maryam Nawaz in the court today and presented her answer in front of the bench led by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Azmat Saeed, Justice Ijaz Afzal, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Ijaz-ul-Hasan as its members.

"I am not a beneficiary of Sharif family's property," claimed Maryam Nawaz while terming herself as a trusty and signatory of the companies only. She said that she was made the trustee of the companies, in case of the death of the current trust she could run the affairs of the trust in the future.

She said that there were five houses in the Raiwand estate. In the first house her grandmother Shamim Akhtar lived. In the second house her parents, the Prime Minister and the first lady, lived. The third house is occupied by her late Uncle Abbas Sharif's family. While in the fourth house CM Punjab Shehbaz Sharif resides and the fifth house is occupied by Maryam Nawaz herself.

She said that Mayfair flats in London are owned by her brother Hussain Nawaz while also terming the documents pertaining to Nescol Company as forged.

Maryam Nawaz said that her signatures on documents of Nescol Company are also fake.

The reply further stated that shares of offshore companies were issued to Hussain Nawaz on July 4, 2006. She said that Hussain Nawaz informed about the offer of Al-Sani family in 2005 after which settlements were carried out in June 2016.

Hussain Nawaz wanted to form trust about offshore companies which will allow Shariah distribution of assets after his death, she added.

Maryam Nawaz also expressed dissatisfaction on email details provided in court as her opinion had not taken before dispatching the letter.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Naeem Bukhari continued his arguments against the Sharif family, particularly targeting Maryam Nawaz but failed to impress the SC bench.

"Your points have not been able to clarify that Maryam Nawaz is a dependent child of the prime minister," the top court told the lawyer.

During Thursday's proceedings, the prime minister's lawyer Makhdoom Ali submitted his reply which included details of the prime minister's public office tenure. The hearing was later adjourned till Monday.
