Management of Pakarab Fertilisers Private Limited (PFL) has announced the United Nations has approved the first ever clean development mechanism (CDM) project in Pakistan.
The CDM is being installed at PFL plant site, Multan in collaboration with Mitsubishi Corporation, Japan, at a cost of 15 million dollars. The CDM project aims at reducing global warming by treating industrial emissions. It shall abate Nitrous Oxide Gas at Pakarab Nitric Acid Plant, in accordance with Kyoto Protocol; a global treaty to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Overall this project shall have positive effect on environment, as Nitrous Oxide shall be converted to Nitrogen and Oxygen by catalytic reduction before venting to atmosphere.
