The Merck calendar 2007 was launched at a ceremony here, says a statement on Friday. It was pointed out that Merck has been promoting the ethnic art for the past four years. The late Bashir Mirza's "Portrait of Pakistan" became the inspiration for the Merck calendar 2007.
Merck Marker Managing Director Jurgen Konig, at the launching ceremony, said the Merck calendars for the previous years not only supported the local art and culture but also aimed at to project a modern and soft image of Pakistan abroad. He pointed out that every year the Merck calendar highlighted a unique facet of the Pakistani society.
Jurgen Konig said the calendar 2007 showed the late Bashir Mirza's deep attachment to the ordinary men and women from the diverse regions of the country and was the source of inspiration for Merck. The guests at the calendar launch included diplomats, members of the business community, politicians and the artists, the statement added.
