Communication and Works Department, Punjab would construct as many as 17 police stations of six districts at a cost of Rs 269 million during new fiscal year. This was revealed in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Punjab Minister for Communication and Works, Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-din Khan, here on Friday.
Secretary C&W Ahmed Yar Khan, Additional Secretary Technical Masood-ur-Rasool, Chief Engineer Buildings and officers of police department were present. The meeting was informed that police stations of Yakki Gate and Defence area in Lahore district would be constructed at a cost of Rs 23.890 million. Similarly, police stations of Pattoki City and B. Division Kasur district would be constructed at a cost of Rs 27.986 million.
Moreover, buildings of District Police Lines, Police Station Jalalpur Jattan and Sukheki of district Hafizabad would be constructed at a cost of Rs 108.233 million. An amount of Rs 28.739 million would be spent on construction of three police stations in Bhakkar district.
Likewise, buildings of six police stations including Civil Lines, Kakarali, Dinga, Sarai Alamgir, Kharian Cantt. and Lalamusa city are under construction and Rs 71.201 million would be spent on these schemes. The building of police station Bucha Kalan in Sargodha district would be completed during this year at a cost of Rs 9.036 million.
The minister has said that government is taking all possible steps to change 'Thana culture'. He directed secretary C&W to review the pace of work personally so that buildings of police stations could be completed in time.
