A 4-member delegation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) led by its President Dr Jacques Rogge on Friday visited GC University Lahore and called on the vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr Khalid Aftab.
The VC apprised the delegation members about the historic profile and academic excellence of the university especially about the sports facilities being extended to the students at the campus. He told Dr Jacques that both captains of cricket and hockey of Pakistani teams are Old Ravians which speaks the institution's excellent contribution in sports at international level.
Dr Khalid also informed the delegation members about Dr Abdus Salam and Dr Hargobind Khorana, both Nobel laureates who had been the students and Professors in this prestigious institution.
Later, the delegation members visited the campus. Dr Jacques showed keen interest in the newly constructed Squash court and appreciated its standard of construction. Dr Jacques was accompanied by Mrs Anne, Christopher De Kepper and Ms Yasmine Braeckevelt.
