The Karachi Port handled 75,408 tonnes cargo including 58,433 tonnes import, 16,975 tonnes export cargo and 1,737 containers during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Saturday.
The cargo comprised of 38,902 tonnes dry cargo including 31,058 tonnes general cargo; 2,490 tonnes fertiliser; 3,129 tonnes rock phosphate; 2,225 tonnes rice; 7,844 tonnes bulk cargo and 36,506 tonnes oil/liquid cargo. Two ships namely Shalamar and Lion Princess sailed out to sea during the report period.
Three vessels viz Iran Tabatbaei, Mega II and Bunga Terasek are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely Corinthiakos, Bunga Terasek, Mega II and Iran Tabatabaei expected to sail on Saturday, while three vessels viz Pac Antlia, Oel Aishwarya and Sky Star are expected to sail on Sunday.
Three vessels viz Marclabria, Pac Antlia and Guan He Kuo due to arrive on Saturday, while seven ships namely Sun Lavender, Norasia Alps, Ever Guide, Wan Hai 301, Dream Beauty, Energy Ranger and Induruwa Valley are due to arrive on Sunday. Three more ships namely Al Marwah, Chemstar Duke and Gulf Bridge are due to arrive on Monday.
The cargo comprised of 44,337 furnace oil; 2,957 tonnes chemicals; 8,488 tonnes edible oil; 4,405 tonnes rice; 3,503 tonnes cement and 45,764 tonnes containerised cargo.
Three ships namely MT Ginga Saker, MV Tiwai Maru, CV ACX Lavender sailed out to sea during the report period, during last 24 hours. Four vessels viz CV Maersk Arkansas, CV San Clemente, MT Anette Kosan and MT Toyokaze are expected to sail on Saturday.
A total of four vessels viz Pacer, Msc Palermo, Captain George-I and Nord Jupiter are currently at the outer anchorage. Three ships namely CV Pacer, CV Msc Palermo and MV Captain George-L due to take berths on Saturday. Three ships namely CV Msc Austria, CV Sinar Bontang and MV Kimberly with containers and coke are due to arrive on Sunday, while an oil tanker MT Al-Maqwa is due to arrive on Monday.
PORT QASIM WEEKLY OPERATIONAL ACTIVITY A total cargo volume of 413,491 tonnes comprising 278,703 tonnes import and 134,788 tonnes export cargo was handled during last week ending on Friday, 24th November 2006.
The cargo comprised of 54,801 tonnes furnace oil; 49,534 tonnes diesel oil; 36,863 tonnes seeds; 29,529 tonnes chemicals; 12,385 tonnes edible oil; 13,034 tonnes rice and 217,345 tonnes containerised cargo. A total of twenty-two ships took berths to load/offload the above cargoes, while twenty-two vessels sailed out to sea during the reporting week.
