Agriculture and textile sectors are the mainstay of national economy and Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) is making strenuous efforts to generate much needed economic activity by providing them uninterrupted and cheap electricity at their doorsteps.
This was stated by Brigadier Tariq Rasool (Retd), Chief Executive, Fesco while addressing members of the Jhang Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) on Monday.
He said the Fesco had been upgrading and expanding its infrastructure to further increase the pace of industrial development. In this connection, he said 66-KV grid stations of Toba Tek Singh and Pir Mahal had been upgraded with an estimated cost of Rs 300 million while the work had been initiated for the construction of a new 220-KV grid station at Gojra.
The land has been purchased for the construction of 132-KV grid station at Kamalpur while paper work is also being completed to set up two new grid stations of 132-KV at Hast Khaiwa and Kot Shakir, he mentioned. The Fesco chief executive disclosed that a new 25-30 kilometer-long transmission line of 132-KV had also been approved to supply electricity to Shorkot and Hawaili Bahadar Shah.
"It would be laid with an estimated cost of Rs100 million", he added. The completion of these projects would not only stabilise the electricity supply but also play a major role it catering to their future energy needs. Earlier, Shahid Iqbal, president, JCCI in his address of welcome explained the problems being confronted by the industrials and businessmen.
Meanwhile, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) has decided to strengthen its field offices by constructing nine new office buildings for Assistant Manager Operation with an estimated cost of Rs7 million. A spokesman of the Fesco said here on Sunday that three new office buildings for Assistant Manager Operation would be constructed in Faisalabad in addition to one each at Khurrarianwala, Essa Khail, Jauharabad and Bhakkar. An office of Manger Operation and Maintenance T&G and distribution control room would also be constructed during this year, he added.
