Mobilink, Pakistan's leading cellular service company with more than 20 million customers and part of the Orascom Telecom Group, on Monday announced its formal association as a Platinum Sponsor for the 6th Kara film festival to be held in Karachi from December 7 - 17, 2006 at the Arts Council of Pakistan.
The strategic announcement was made by Hassan Zaidi, Festival Director and Akbar Khan, Head of Brand, Mobilink in a joint statement issued to the media.
Akbar Khan emphasising the need to promote the arts and culture in Pakistan, commented, "The 6th Kara film festival is now a landmark cultural event in the metropolitan city of Karachi and after five successive years of providing people in Pakistan. With good, healthy entertainment the festival has gained immense popularity, both locally and amongst a growing number of people who come from abroad. Mobilink is delighted to establish a long-term partnership with an event that portrays the cultural background of the country; which in reality is an embodiment of the country's image in the eyes of the international community."
The opening ceremony of this grand festival will take place at the Mohatta Palace and closing ceremony shall take place at the PAF museum.
The festival will include a variety of activities including screening of Pakistani and international films, and the presence of some well-known film personalities from Europe, the Americas and India. This festival is by far, the largest and most acclaimed film festival in Pakistan with more than sixty thousand visitors and is expected to double this year.

The company has praised the success of Kara film festival having established itself over 5 years as a brand synonymous with creativity, credibility and quality.
