A fair with the aim at creating awareness and understanding about disability issues and to mobilise support for action at all levels concluded here at Race Course Park with pledges and promises from philanthropists to foot in more funds and efforts for the cause.
The fair was organised by Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of disabled (Labard) which started as a small cell in 1996 on the initiative of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry LCCI.
It has now grown into a full fledged NGO, which imparts rehabilitation and training services to the special persons through 70 institutions and is planning to establish its own vocational centre soon.
While addressing the participants at the fair, Vice president LCCI Mubashir Sheikh said free of cost cornea transplant has been initiated by Labard, which needs generous contribution from philanthropists, and added that there are more than 200,000 persons in and around Lahore who needed rehabilitation and help.
