Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Home Affairs, Waseem Akhtar has said that community police system has produced good results in curbing crimes and the system will be further strengthened with encouragement to community and all those associated with the system.
Addressing an award distribution ceremony of Jamshed Town community policing here on Tuesday night, Waseem emphasised the need for transformation in police station culture to restore public confidence and to improve the system and said hard work would have to be done in this regard.
He said police officers and Jawans could play an important role in this regard through their character and behaviour. "Much disrepute has been brought to police department. Enough is enough and now this department has to be made public-friendly," he said and added that dispensation of immediate justice could be ensured, if police turns impartial.
The advisor said that although there had been a decline in crimes in Sindh, he was not satisfied with the existing situation. Addressing the ceremony Chief Community policing, Saleem Farooqi, Joint Chief Shamim Arif and Chairman Dr Faheem Ansari informed that community policing has 25 mobile vans whose expenses are borne by the community.
