The Supreme Court has directed Superintendent Police Barkhan to register a case against Sardar Abdur Rahman Khaitran, husband of a Balochistan Minister, and arrest him on the charges of abduction of five persons and keeping them in illegal confinement.
The court gave these orders on an application of some poor people of the area who appeared before the court on Thursday and told stories of high-handedness, cruelties and gross violation of human rights by influential Sardar Abdur Rehman Khaitran.
They said that the Sardar wanted them to contract marriage of their two minor girls, who were also present in the court-room, to his guards but on their refusal, he abducted and threatened to kill them.
They further submitted that despite their repeated applications, the local police have failed to take any action against the Sardar and instead registered criminal cases again them. The court reprimanded SP Shahid of Barkhan for being mixed up with the accused and directed him to arrest and produce him before the court on the December 8.
The court directed Home Secretary, Inspector General Police and Director General Levies, Balochistan to constitute a committee to hear and decide complaints of the applicants in accordance with law and submit a report to the court.
