The provincial Ombudsman has directed DCO, Jhang, to pay scholarship to the complainant's daughter Farhat Batool who passed her intermediate examination and applied to provincial Benevolent Board for scholarship.
The complainant Ghulam Muhammad contended in his complaint that his daughter Mst Farhat Batool filed an application to provincial Benevolent Fund Board for scholarship for the year 2001-02, which was forwarded to DCO, Jhang for necessary action in accordance with the law.
He contended that DCO, Jhang failed to take necessary action in the matter, with the result that no scholarship was received. The complainant requested Mohtasib to direct DCO, Jhang, to pay the scholarship to his daughter. The DCO, Jhang reported that the complainant's daughter failed to secure 55 percent marks in Intermediate examination and, therefore, she was not entitled to avail of the scholarship, hence her application was rejected.
The Ombudsman observed that under a notification, issued on June 07, 2002 by Services & General Administration Department, government of the Punjab, the condition to avail of scholarship from Benevolent Fund to secure 55 percent marks was relaxed, declaring children of government servants securing 50 percent marks entitled to avail of scholarship. The Ombudsman, therefore, directed DCO, Jhang to pay the amount of scholarship to the complainant daughter.
