Punjab Chief Minister has approved the project of setting up "Emergency Centre" in Sialkot at a cost of Rs 164 million and work on the project would be carried out soon, revealed Sialkot District Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Sunday he said that the proposed emergency centre would be equipped with 10 modern ambulances and 272 highly experienced persons would be engaged with the centre.
The prime concept of setting up emergency centre was to provide quick medical services to the masses during mishaps like fire, earthquake, bomb blast and fetal accidents he said. The District Nazim said the site for the proposed centre had been selected and the centre would be equipped with eight vehicles with 21 feet lifters would be inducted for rescue operation.
Akmal Cheema said that more than Rs 5 crore were being spent on the widening and reconstruction of BRB canal bridge near Daska city for streamlining the traffic on Sialkot-Gujranwala road while Rs 2 crore would be spent on the widening and improvement of Daska bypass road for reducing the traffic problems.
In addition to this Sialkot-Gujranwala road would be converted into dual carriageway at the estimated cost of Rs 1.20 billion he added.
Akmal Cheema disclosed that under Citizen Community Board (CCB) as many as 32 different projects pertaining to public welfare costing Rs 5 crore had been approved and development work on these projects would be initiated shortly in various parts of Sialkot district. Special attention he said had been accorded on the promotion of education and district government had allocated Rs 1.84 billion for the completion of different projects.
The Sialkot District Nazim pledged that district government would play an instrumental role for the betterment of the common man and ensure maximum relief for the general public of the district. Akmal Cheema said that all available resources were being mobilised for converting Sialkot district into a model district of the Punjab.
